Sexual and Reproductive Health as a health promotion strategy in the school environment

The approach to health education is of paramount importance for the quality and effectiveness of sexual and reproductive health care, especially in the school environment.These activities need to be supported by notions of empathy and acceptance, since they comprise the moral and cultural values of individuals, in addition to the objective knowledge that permeates these issues.In this sense, the objective of this work is to report the practical experience of health education activities in order to verify the students' knowledge regarding sexuality and reproductive planning.This is an experience report, with a qualitative approach.Undergraduate Nursing students carried out health education activities with the public of young people and adults held in public schools in Parnaíba-PI aimed at the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in the period of June 2022.field through direct observation to record information, impressions about the territory of operation.There was a lack of sex education in the school environment, due to the lack of knowledge about sexual infections, the erroneous use of contraceptive methods, which favors the emergence of numerous health conditions, such as STIs and teenage pregnancy.The health education actions carried out by nursing students contribute to the training of undergraduate students as they provide contact with the community and its needs.They also help to reduce STIs, since misinformation is one of the main factors for their dissemination.Downloads
