Abstract

Emergency care units demand strategies that aim to improve work follow-up and achieve better results for patients and professionals involved. This article aims to report the experience of students at the Federal University of Western Bahia, participants of the Education Program for Health Work in the Health Management axis in an Emergency Care Unit during the implementation of the Managed Sepsis Protocol, as well as exposing the activities carried out during the period from July to December 2022, in order to collaborate in the construction of the management of Sepsis care in the municipality of Barreiras - Bahia. During the period, students from the Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine and Nutrition courses had the opportunity to assist in the four phases belonging to the Sepsis Protocol: Recognition, Resuscitation, Reassessment and Referral. In the end, workshops, training and production of materials were held to help the professional team and patients assisted by the Better at Home Program to prevent Sepsis, as well as to identify and treat existing cases early. The involvement of students collaborate in the management of care for Sepsis cases in the municipality by integrating protocols scientifically based on updated practices and finally providing opportunities for the stimulation of professional knowledge and routines based on Permanent Health Education.
