Abstract

The primary objective of the Education through Work for Health Program (PET-Health) is to train health professionals with a high level of technical, scientific, technological and academic qualifications. This program was implemented in the city of Jacarei, Paraná, by the Ministry of Health, led by the Secretariat for Work Management and Health Education and instituted by Interministerial Ordinance No. 421, on March 3, 2010. This experience report is the result of an action aimed at integrating teaching and service, which was based on the needs encountered by the public health team, as expressed by the data collected through the application of an adapted form on quality of life at work. This action sought to strengthen permanent education in health through training and updates for health professionals, to make it easier for them to deal with problems encountered in their daily lives. The project provided scholarship students and volunteers with interprofessional experiences and a wealth of knowledge, benefiting students not only as undergraduates, but also in their practice and routine in the Basic Health Units, always seeking to improve health and continuing education.
