Objective: To identify the impacts resulting from the use of health monitoring applications compared to traditional methods of care management. Method: This study comprises an integrative literature review, in which 10 scientific articles were analyzed. These articles were selected through a rigorous search of the LILACS, MEDLINE/PubMed, and Cochrane Library databases. To be eligible, studies had to meet the following criteria: be primary, be fully available, not have been removed from the databases, and have an objective that directly answered the research question. Results: From the analysis of the collected content, the effectiveness of self-management health apps can be observed, as well as identifying challenges encountered during implementation. Conclusion: This study highlights the growing potential of applications in improving healthcare for the elderly, given the ongoing demographic expansion in this age group.
