Abstract

There are frequent conflicts between the therapeutic objectives prescribed by rehabilitation professionals and the perception of the health status of people diagnosed with a serious illness. Thus, criticism of rehabilitation practices demands the expansion of action to combat maleficence in public health. This essay aimed to discuss the right to health in the field of rehabilitation and palliative care. Autonomy and non-maleficence were the bioethical principles highlighted and identified as indispensable in the field of rehabilitation as advocated in palliative care. The non-compliance with these principles and the supposed inability to communicate warn about the importance of discussing palliative care since health education.
