Abstract

Contextualization: some difficulties have been related to the traditional education system associated with day-to-day activities, due to the lack of time required for daily work. In practice, most preceptors who participate in the training of residents occupy this position according to their professional skills, however, the presence of medical technical skills does not always reflect a pedagogical skill, which can considerably affect the transmission of knowledge. The objective of this work was to present a report of an experience using the teaching tool “One-minute preceptor” (OMP), based on the perception of the preceptors involved in the activity, demonstrate the initial results and the conceptual review of the method. Description of the experience: the educational action was developed over six months in the orthopedics residency program at a public hospital. Initially presented to the coordinator and preceptors through a Pedagogical Action Planning (PAP), the activity was developed during consultations at an elective orthopedic outpatient clinic. Impacts: the characteristics associated with the method, of improving the absorption and immediate practical application of concepts at the time of care and stimulating the search for deeper knowledge, were observed after the initial period of the project, significantly contributing to the improvement of theoretical performance (assessed subjectively) and relationship with preceptors. Final considerations: this experience reinforces the OMP as a good teaching option and can help its dissemination as an effective method for resident autonomy and learning, inside and outside the clinical environment.
