Abstract

This experience report was based on the experiences of five professionals from the single health system, the SUS. There are four physiotherapists and one psychologist, who perform care and preceptorship functions in the multidisciplinary health residency program entitled “Intensive Care in Adults”, linked to the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). This work cites the experience of this group during their postgraduate course in teaching for preceptors. During the specialization, one of the activities proposed was the development of an activity where they should map qualities and weaknesses in their place of work, and subsequently create a possible strategy for improving their care/teaching field. Five activities were carried out, respectively, three of which were directly linked to teaching, and two related to the evaluation process. At the end of these, each of the professionals/preceptors sent their activities to their tutors. Four were successful in implementing their projects and one was not fully implemented. This made clear a fact observed by these professionals mentioned and also by the majority of other postgraduate students, a fact reported in forums discussed throughout the course, since all professionals who perform the role of preceptorship also perform a care function primarily, which sometimes they put preceptorship in the background. This notably demonstrates that the accumulation of functions limited the completion of the activities proposed by the five professionals/preceptors, culminating in the discussion about the need for professionalization in the individual as a preceptor.
