Profile of tuberculosis cases with comorbidities in municipalities on the international border in Pará from 2010 to 2019

Objectives: To describe and analyze the socio-epidemiological profile and the outcome of tuberculosis cases with comorbidities aids, alcoholism, diabetes, mental illness and smoking in the state of Pará in populations residing in three municipalities located on the international border line and in three municipalities not border areas, selected for their equivalent populations. Methodology: this is an observational, cross-sectional study with a descriptive and analytical approach. The data collected were obtained from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) for tuberculosis cases in the municipalities of Almeirim, Óbidos, Oriximiná, Juruti, Novo Repartimento and Tucumã in the period from 2010 to 2019. the chi-square test. Results: 286 cases of tuberculosis with comorbidities were reported, with 177 cases (61.8%) occurring in municipalities in Pará located on the border with Guyana and Suriname. Alcoholism (36.4%) and smoking (28,9 %) were the most frequent comorbidities. The chi-square test revealed statistical significance (p < 0.05) for the location of the municipality (p= 0.0343), where 53.5% of the patients who were not cured of tuberculosis resided in municipalities on the international border line. Conclusion: The chances of cure for tuberculosis cases with comorbidities are lower in patients residing in municipalities located on the international border line when compared to the outcome of cases in patients residing in non-border cities.Downloads
