Violence against women in the state of Pernambuco – Brazil: profile of assaulted women and characteristics of the incidents notified between 2015 and 2019

Abstract

Objetive: To describe the epidemiological characteristics of notifications from women who notifications fromwomen who monitored violence, residing in Pernambuco, from 2014 to 2019. Methods: Epidemiological, cross-sectional study, with data from notifications from the Notifiable Diseases Information System. Result: We identified 31,439 cases, predominantly women aged 10 to 29 years (16,730), mixed race/color (20,384). Single women were the ones who suffered the most frequente. As for the place of occurrence, residence predominated (19,013). In the nature of violence, the highest records were physical (19,049), psychological (9,609) and sexual (4983). Body strength/beating reached (13,662). Intimate partners were the most likely perpetrators (9,964), often male (17,879). Conclusion: In general, women were between 10 and 29 years old, single and brown. There was a predominance of physical, psychological and sexual violence at home and emotions mostly by intimate partners, through body force/beating.
