Abstract

This article reports on the experience of psychology in a Temporary Reception Unit for people living with HIV/AIDS (UAT), in the city of Belém/PA. It is a place that receives people undergoing treatment for HIV/AIDS from different municipalities in the State of Pará to carry out their consultations and tests. In these terms, it is the only reception in Brazil for people living with HIV and AIDS linked to a state level. In addition to favoring support for the stay structure while dealing with health, the space for group coexistence and exchanges with the health team allow other subjective experiences in the experience of a complex disease, which still today carries many stigmas, prejudices and silences. Psychological assistance to users in this situation allows them to perceive and work on these experiences , which is an important factor for them to find a space to talk about their anxieties, doubts and perceptions of the illness.
