Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze the socioeconomic profile and social demands presented by patients who underwent prolonged hospitalization for the treatment of Covid-19, admitted to the Integrated Continuing Care Unit (UCCI) in the period from 2020 to 2021. Method: A descriptive quantitative approach of an exploratory and retrospective nature was adopted. The research was carried out at the UCCI of Hospital São Julião, located in Campo Grande/MS. 59 medical records of patients aged between 18 and 59 years who underwent prolonged hospitalization for the treatment of Covid-19 were analyzed. Results: Of the 59 participants, there was a greater number of females with a mean age of 49.1 years (SD±8.55). Among the participants, 78% remained hospitalized between 15 and 30 days at the UCCI. Most participants declared to be the breadwinner of the house. Most participants did not have a social security bond, and personal and/or family income was up to one minimum wage. Most live in the city of Campo Grande (88.1%) and all demanded guidance related to accessing goods and/or services. It was observed that the most affected patients were those with lower income and without social security, which may indicate the need for public policies aimed at this group. Conclusion: This study identified the main needs and demands met by the Social Service, as well as the referrals and procedures adopted for each patient. It is notable that the pandemic affected not only the individual, but also the community in general, reflecting on the socioeconomic vulnerability of the family during hospitalization, as shown by the data presented.Downloads
