This study aimed to analyze the availability and occupancy of intensive care unit beds for covid-19, among the health regions of the state of Pará between the period 2020 and 2022. This is an ecological, cross-sectional study, carried out with data secondary. Monthly data on cases and deaths were collected according to the date of the first symptoms of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), by municipality of residence in the state of Pará, hospitalizations by place of hospitalization, type of bed, in the years 2020, 2021 and 2022, systematized according to the 13 health regions of the state of Pará. With these data, lethality and prevalence and occupancy rate were collected in UCI. To estimate the odds of hospitalizations in ICU beds with comorbidities, odds ratios were used, with a 95% confidence interval. Simple linear correlation was analyzed, followed by the Person test, to compare the prevalence by month and by health region with the respective rate of ICU bed occupancy. Regarding the percentage of ICU beds and the use of ventilatory support, heterogeneity was observed between the health regions. In regions without ICU beds, lethality was higher. Thus, it is evident how some regions are more homogeneous than others, making agreements between them necessary to enable patient transfers. It is concluded that the heterogeneity in the availability of ICU beds in the health regions of Pará had an impact on the provision of services, treatment and survival by covid-19.
