Care and attention to the family of users undergoing cancer treatment

The present work is an experience report that aims to report the experience about the care and attention to the family of users undergoing cancer treatment by health professionals at a High Complexity Center in Oncology located in the interior of Ceará, during the Multiprofessional Residency in Cancerology. The experience covered the period of 2021, the first year of work as a resident Social Worker, working in the outpatient services sectors, in the surgical oncology ward, in radiotherapy and chemotherapy, together with the other professionals of the multidisciplinary team of the residency and the service workers, offering individual and collective care to users and their families. It was possible to understand that the diagnosis of cancer causes several impacts, changes and difficulties in the family dynamics, making it necessary for health professionals to understand these factors. Realizing also the importance of the family nucleus being included in the care, considering its needs and potential, through the development of integrative and humanized care practices that promote dialogue between the team, user and family with the objective of strengthening autonomy, participation and co-responsibility in the care in health.Downloads
