Abstract

Introduction: discussions about changes in the profile of graduates from Physiotherapy courses are now a reality, as expressed in the National Curriculum Guidelines. To achieve this profile, the Narrative Based Teaching Project was created at a University Center located in the city of São Paulo. Physiotherapy undergraduates participated in the project during the years 2018 and 2019. Objective: this research brings the experiences from the participation of physiotherapy students, who collected narratives of illness from a group of people with chronic conditions. Methodology: the research corpus was submitted to the free software IRaMuTeQ® and content analysis. Results: issues related to the person's role in narrating their illness, the different views of what would be considered a disease for the student and for the patient, the feelings that the collection of narratives brought to these students, active listening, and the feelings they could observe in the other, were highlighted. Comparisons with the traditional interview script and feelings of countertransference were observed. Conclusions: it was evident that this activity brought important reflections to these graduates helping to achieve the profile expressed in the current curricular guidelines.
