The use of Situational Diagnosis (SD) as a working tool contributes to structured tracking that encompasses aspects of health, education, lifestyle, sanitation, safety, transport and housing. This study consists of an experience report from carrying out a Situational Diagnosis of a Family Health Unit located in the interior of Bahia. Secondary and primary data were used to collect data, in addition to participant observation. The systematization of relevant data for the construction of the SD was carried out using tables and graphs, prepared with the help of Excel 2010. The information from participant observation was recorded in detail in field diaries and analyzed qualitatively. The results revealed that the majority of households (90.87%) have electricity, water treatment (92.53%) and garbage collection (71.80%), the majority of the population assisted by the health service is from female (55.5%), aged between 35 and 59 years old (37.2%) and with less than or equal to primary education (48.9%). The main health problems identified in the territory are: Systemic Arterial Hypertension, Diabetes and excess weight. The Family Health Unit is made up of the Family Health Teams, Oral Health Team and Support Teams. Experiencing the construction of a situational diagnosis allowed the construction of a crucial critical-reflexive outlook for the professional future, as it conceives the experience of the real, the concrete.
